Released for Christmas as a digital EP are three tracks from an album that the dazzling soprano Diana Damrau has recorded with the dynamic conductor Riccardo Minasi and the NDR Radiophilharmonie. Their complete programme of Christmas music will be released in Autumn 2022. In the meantime this EP brings together César Franck’s floating, but fervent ‘Panis Angelicus’, an aria from Bach’s Weinachtsoratorium (Christmas Oratorio) – the lilting ‘Flößt mein Heiland’ with its delightful echo effects – and, from Handel’s Messiah, the exuberant ‘Erwach, frohlocke, o Tochter von Zion' (‘Rejoice greatly’ in the original English).
