"There are two beautifully wrought Song of Songs settings, Ego flos campi and Osculetor me osculo by Bertolusi, while Anerio’s Missa Pulchra es is, by any standards, a monument by a master.”
- The Sunday Times
"Choral Choice. (Asprilio) Pacelli pulls out all the stops in Dum esset rex, scored for 20 voices in five choirs, with a daunting vocal range. The Sixteen respond magnificently: in a swirl of all-embracing sound."
- BBC Music Magazine
The Blossoming Vine is the second in The Sixteen’s series of Polish music, both under the direction of conductor Eamonn Dougan. The music is all connected to the Virgin Mary with several of the texts taken from the Song of Songs, the Old Testament’s collection of love poetry which has long been applied metaphorically to the Virgin Mary. The Grammy-nominated ensemble The Sixteen is recognized as one of the world’s greatest groups, comprising both choir and period instrument orchestra.
