Leonard Slatkin conducts the Lyon National Orchestra on this 2013 live recording showcasing Berlioz's Harold en Italie, intended for the great violinist Paganini who, having initially rejected the work, later repented and gave it his highest praise. Also included are the brilliant concert overtures Benvenuto Cellini and Le carnaval romain, among Berlioz’s most popular works, as well as the elegant Rêverie et Caprice featuring violinist Giovanni Radivo, the composer's only work for solo violin and orchestra.
