“... there can be no doubt that pianist-composer Iyer stands among the most daringly original jazz artists of the under-40 generation ...”
- Chicago Tribune

Three heavyweights of American jazz came together in 1986 to form the band Trio 3 in order to centralize their creative energies and promote a single governing principle, which they call "organic improvisation." While all three members are distinct soloists, Trio 3 is definitely a group-based effort consisting of virtuosos Oliver Lake on alto sax, Reggie Workman on bass and drummer Andrew Cyrille. For this 2014 album they have added Grammy-nominated pianist Vijay Iyer to the lineup, making Iyer the fourth guest pianist to collaborate with Trio 3. In the summer of 2013 Trio 3 invited Iyer to join them for a week-long residency at New York’s jazz club Birdland before recording this album Wiring in New York City. Iyer contributes to the songwriting here including a topical song ripped from the headlines, Suite for Trayvon (and Thousands More).

What is High-Resolution Audio?

High-resolution audio offers the highest-fidelity available, far surpassing the sound quality of traditional CDs. When you listen to music on a CD or tracks purchased via consumer services such as iTunes, you are hearing a low-resolution version of what was actually recorded and mastered in the studio. ProStudioMasters offers the original studio masters — exactly as the artist, producers and sound engineers mastered them — for download, directly to you.

What do I need for playback?

You may need additional software / hardware to take full advantage of the higher 24-bit high-res audio formats, but any music lover that has heard 16-bit vs 24-bit will tell you it's worth it!
