Digital Booklet
"... the quality of the playing is gratifyingly high ... the sound engineers are to be congratulated for providing clear, well balanced sonics. This is a captivating release, highly desirable for lovers of music from the Strauss family." - MusicWeb International Manfred Honeck and the Wiener Symphoniker pay tribute to the works of the Strauss family and the Viennese music tradition on this 2014 live album. Almost all pieces Honeck has chosen for this live recording relate to the subject of nature in some way or another. The album features eight compositions by eldest brother Johann Strauss II, three from middle brother Josef and a polka from youngest brother Eduard. "This album focuses on Johann Strauss II but also unites compositions of all three sons of the Strauss dynasty’s founder. Recording the music of the Strauss brothers together with the Vienna Symphony has been a particular joy and honour for me. Not only are the musicians of this orchestra deeply familiar with the traditions of rubato playing and the typical waltz accompaniment, they also have the distinct empathy which is so essential in bringing out the unique character of each single one of the Strauss’s works." - Manfred Honeck

What is High-Resolution Audio?

High-resolution audio offers the highest-fidelity available, far surpassing the sound quality of traditional CDs. When you listen to music on a CD or tracks purchased via consumer services such as iTunes, you are hearing a low-resolution version of what was actually recorded and mastered in the studio. ProStudioMasters offers the original studio masters — exactly as the artist, producers and sound engineers mastered them — for download, directly to you.

What do I need for playback?

You may need additional software / hardware to take full advantage of the higher 24-bit high-res audio formats, but any music lover that has heard 16-bit vs 24-bit will tell you it's worth it!
