Best known for his scores for silent film, composer and conductor Carl Davis has also enjoyed considerable recognition for his concert works and his eight-year stint as Artistic Director and Conductor for the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra’s Summer Pops Season. His Last Train to Tomorrow tells the heart wrenching tale of the Kindertransport - the rescue by train from Prague, Vienna and Berlin, of thousands of Jewish children from death at the hands of the Nazis, and fittingly, this release features the Czech National Symphony Orchestra and the Prague Children’s Opera realizing this song cycle in honour of a inspiring moment of their national history.
