Often interestingly and sometimes amusingly, animals have been personified in literature throughout the centuries: authors have made them behave like humans, given them the power of speech and used them to represent thoughts, feelings, even people. This fascinating album is an anthology of French songs on that theme, combining well known poetry with more obscure pieces to showcase a variety of human expressions through music, depicted by soprano Céline Ricci and her pianist and collaborator Daniel Lockert, recorded at Skywalker Sound in California.
