British-American sitar player Anoushka Shankar releases a brand new single entitled "In Her Name". The track pays homage to the many women around the world who are victims of violence, on the ten year anniversary of the Nirbhaya case, which involved a rape and fatal assault that occurred on 16 December 2012 in Munirka, a neighbourhood in South West Delhi.
“This not only marks 10 years but perhaps to broaden the lens outwards, I’ve called it ‘In Her Name’. It’s in everyone’s name — a decade later, we’re not necessarily in a better place around the world when it comes to violence against women. The song features new words written by poet Nikita Gill.”
