"... conceptually innovative and fascinating and the playing is masterly throughout."
- Classic FM
"... it’s always a pleasure to hear his emotionally intelligent, free-spirited playing, and the accompanying orchestra matches him beautifully."
- Sinfini Music
Award-winning British violinist Daniel Hope's Escape to Paradise: The Hollywood Album draws on Hope’s extensive research into European composers, among them Eric Wolfgang Korngold, Miklós Rózsa, Hanns Eisler and Franz Waxman, who fled fascist persecution to relocate to Hollywood where they composed some of the 20th century’s most iconic film scores. Recorded with Alexander Shelley leading the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic and featuring guest artists including Sting and Max Raabe, Hope’s unprecedented 2014 collection juxtaposes examples of the émigré composers’ film and concert music with selections by those they influenced: leading contemporary movie composers John Williams, Ennio Morricone and Thomas Newman.
