The Quatuor Mosaïques, which plays historical instruments using gut strings, has been described again and again as one of the leading string quartets of our time, confirmed by many prize-winning recordings. Mozart is one of the quartet's specialties, which becomes apparent on this album originally released in 1993. The all-important clarinet soloist who stars on these two pieces is Wolfgang Meyer, accompanied by Anita Mitterer on viola and Patrick Cohen on hammerflügel on the Clarinet Trio.
