"Comedy, because in those days, composed for theater and cinema, these little musics lived in images or on theater stages.
Once the curtain closed, these melodies would return to a drawer, silently clinging to their paper staves.
So I brought them out again in a quartet: a saxophone vocal, another on tuba (a quiet genius), a faithful American on piano, and an airy percussion. Definitely, 4 actors very attentive to the "beautiful work": craftsmen of the beautiful sound, without artifice, a certain humility, without however forgetting the canaille, pirate spirit.
So, a second life for these melodic fulgurances that have frequented Molière and also many lesser-known people, Helvetian film-makers, magnificent theater directors, then sister inspirations, born on a piano, like this "Chili con carpate" souvenir of the eternal journey from East to West or vice versa, but surely an immense gratitude to popular music. Influences? Nino Rota, Kurt Weil, Wayne Shorter, Egberto Gismonti, Harpo Marx, and so many others from the great family of poets who never cease to illuminate us with their childlike gaze."
