The matter, its sound, the associated movement, and the resulting image are the basic essences of Simon Berz’s artistic approach. His work ranges from visual art, sound studies, compositions, and installations to transdisciplinary music and dance performances with 60 participants of all generations, professions, genders, and cultures.
For a long time, Simon Berz has been trying to manipulate percussive expression on drums through electronics, a practice that is showcased on Breath versus Beats, which features guest artists Toshinori Kondo on trumpet and Bill Laswell on bass.
