Digital Booklet
|
"Full of spirit and stunningly played by Tamsin Waley-Cohen ... the playing from the soloists is virtuosic and the Orchestra of the Swan give light-footed support."
- The Guardian
“... sizzlingly draws attention to the preternatural gifts of invention and lithe craftsmanship that Mendelssohn possessed... the Orchestra of the Swan bring the music ear-catchingly alive ... all the witty repartee is there, as is the charm ...”
- Gramophone
Outstanding British violinist Tamsin Waley-Cohen performs a fittingly prodigious work by Felix Mendelssohn on this 2013 release. The Violin Concerto in D Minor was composed when Mendelssohn was only 13 and is paired here with his Concerto for Violin, Piano and String Orchestra, on which she is joined by British pianist Huw Watkins alongside the Orchestra of the Swan conducted by David Curtis.
