Weezer reunites with producer Ric Ocasek, who produced two earlier albums for the band, for their first original album in four years. With over 200 songs written and considered for the final cut, the band recorded a couple of dozen and narrowed the choice down to the 13 songs that ultimately appear here. With Ocasek at the helm, the band feels the sound on this album hearkens back to some of their classics.
“If you took the Pinkerton band and then play all the other records, that’s what we sound like now. Bombastic, loose, kind of booming. This record sounds like it’s going to have the tight structure of Blue Album with a little bit more abandon like Pinkerton.“
