Digital Booklet
Using contemporary music and words, the project “Insect Hotel”, comprising twenty-four scores, explores the extraordinarily rich world of insects. The self-imposed obligation to use a different language for each piece in the cycle proved to be a fascinating experience from the start. The result is close links between the different categories, with texts that suggest connections beyond literary boundaries, an extension into the cultural realm. In short, the cycle deals with the insect family across languages and literary categories. The cycle is about the world of insects from the perspective of languages in their cultural environment and musical context. As there are so many languages world-wide (over 6,000), this song cycle is quite modest, with only twenty-four text settings. These movements do not aspire to be complete. Rather, a collection of music and texts that illuminate insect species from different viewpoints. The project takes place in a world where languages and insect species are rapidly disappearing. It is an adventure trip with countless diary entries and many nights at the insect hotel, where you can listen to the rustle of these tiny beasts. Claude Lenners (*1956) studied composition at the Luxembourg and Strasbourg Conservatories and musicology at the University of Human Sciences II in Strasbourg. His catalogue of works includes numerous chamber music scores, symphonic works and several stage works. He is the founder of the rainy days festival, of which he was artistic director until 2005, founder of the a.s.b.l. Noise Watchers Unlimited and the electronic music class at the Conservatory of the City of Luxembourg. The Ensemble Noise Watchers Unlimited is based in Luxembourg and is dedicated to the performance of new and current scores of contemporary music. The ensemble usually plays in small chamber music groups and performs regularly at the annual rainy days festival at the Philharmonie Luxembourg.

What is High-Resolution Audio?

High-resolution audio offers the highest-fidelity available, far surpassing the sound quality of traditional CDs. When you listen to music on a CD or tracks purchased via consumer services such as iTunes, you are hearing a low-resolution version of what was actually recorded and mastered in the studio. ProStudioMasters offers the original studio masters — exactly as the artist, producers and sound engineers mastered them — for download, directly to you.

What do I need for playback?

You may need additional software / hardware to take full advantage of the higher 24-bit high-res audio formats, but any music lover that has heard 16-bit vs 24-bit will tell you it's worth it!
