Footprint Records are proud and honoured to present the new album I am like many, with the vocal ensemble VoNo. Artistic director and conductor is Lone Larsen, one of Europe’s most innovative choral conductors. “Creative co-creation" lies at the heart of Lone Larsen's musical method – one she has honed for over twenty years with her own professional vocal ensemble VoNo.
The choral performance I Am Like Many premiered at Stockholm’s Playhouse Teater in 2022. It is based on material that ranges from poetic love letters and 19th-century manifestos to articles, editorials, and the voices of pioneer advocates for the right to love whoever they choose. The music on this album comes from this show, where the loveliest and the cruelest sides of human nature are on display, and thoughts about acceptance and belonging are shared.
The album contains four pieces, two of which are composed for the ensemble and the other two premiered in Europe by VoNo. This is challenging and beautiful music, making use of the entire range and tonal quality of the choir, placing the words centerstage while also bending and stretching the sounds to make them grow.
