Nareh Arghamanyan is not only one of the most technically resourceful pianists of today’s generation, but her interpretations, her rich, colourful tone, combined with an exceptional storytelling gift enable her to present something remarkably unique and precious. Prokofiev’s intricate, complex Piano Concerto No. 3 is a work that calls for the utmost virtuosity, traits equal to the level of gregariousness necessary for a successful traversal of Khachaturian’s concerto, with its spicy harmonies and colourful orchestration. On this recording the pianist is accompanied by the Berlin Radio Symphony conducted by Alain Altinoglu.
