Digital Booklet
|
"... this is far and away the most spectacular disc of its type that I have ever heard ... it is beautifully constructed ... Lipkind’s tonal qualities surpass just about any other cellist on the scene today, with remarkable control in all registers, wonderful intonation, and a rich, burly sound that takes your breath away. Not to be left out of the equation is pianist Alexandra Lubchansky, never merely accompanying but equally involved in music that often requires equal partnership."
- Fanfare
Multiple award-winning cellist Gavriel Lipkind and pianist Alexandra Lubchansky present this album of 23 miniatures, all chosen with a particular concept in mind: they are all short, relatively unknown pieces which contain clear elements of folk music. Lipkind arranged these works himself, representing his own burgeoning compositional voice.
