The line-up of trumpet, bass and drums represents the nucleus of jazz: Melody and rhythm in their purest form. Thanks to the incredibly transparent instrumentation, the protagonists‘ melodic ideas go straight to the listener’s ears and heart. The trio is complemented by US saxophonist Bill McHenry, who sets an emotional climax at the end of the album with a moving interpretation of the classic ballad "The Meaning of the Blues“. The contrasting repertoire is held together by the strong musical personalities of four congenial storytellers. An extraordinarily organic sound gives the listener the impression of being in the middle of the music or even swimming in the ears of the musicians through a constant stream of musical ideas.
