After being unavailable physically or on streaming services for years, Black Sabbath is now making four of their albums with singer Tony Martin available with a new reissue and remaster. This individual release is also included in the band's boxset Anno Domini 1989-1995, which gathers together Headless Cross (1989), Tyr (1990), Cross Purposes (1994) and Forbidden (1995), featuring remasters of the first three, and an entirely remixed version of Forbidden overseen by guitarist Tony Iommi. Tyr is the fifteenth studio album by English heavy metal band Black Sabbath, released on 20 August 1990 by I.R.S. Records. The album title, and several song titles, allude to Norse mythology, which led many to call Tyr a concept album, although bassist Neil Murray dispelled that in 2005, stating that while many of the songs may seem loosely related, very little of the album has to do with mythology and it was not intended to be a concept recording. "For our next album, Tyr, we went back to the Woodcray Studios in February 1990, with me and Cozy producing it again. On Headless Cross, Tony Martin had just come into the band and he assumed, oh, Black Sabbath, it's all about the Devil, so his lyrics were full of the Devil and Satan. It was too much in your face. We told him to be a bit more subtle about it, so for Tyr he did all these lyrics about Nordic gods and whatnot. It took me a while to get my head around that." - Tony Iommi

What is High-Resolution Audio?

High-resolution audio offers the highest-fidelity available, far surpassing the sound quality of traditional CDs. When you listen to music on a CD or tracks purchased via consumer services such as iTunes, you are hearing a low-resolution version of what was actually recorded and mastered in the studio. ProStudioMasters offers the original studio masters — exactly as the artist, producers and sound engineers mastered them — for download, directly to you.

What do I need for playback?

You may need additional software / hardware to take full advantage of the higher 24-bit high-res audio formats, but any music lover that has heard 16-bit vs 24-bit will tell you it's worth it!
