MPB4 releases new album 60 anos de MPB, which celebrates six decades of career and public and critical successes. Recorded almost entirely between January 15 and February 9, 2024 at the Biscoito Fino studio in Rio de Janeiro, the album features luxurious appearances by Alceu Valença, Chico Buarque, Dori Caymmi, Edu Lobo, Francis Hime, Guinga, Ivan Lins , João Bosco, Kleiton & Kledir, Milton Nascimento, Paulinho da Viola and Toquinho. Only the voices of Alceu Valença, Milton Nascimento and Toquinho were recorded in other studios.
This work by MPB4 – which attempts to summarize the 60 years of services provided by MPB, an acronym that the quartet itself created and which ended up taking on a life of its own – is dedicated to the Quarteto em Cy's stage and life companions, as well as Magro and Ruy, members of the first formation of MPB4 alongside Miltinho and Aquiles, who now have Dalmo Medeiros and Paulo Malaguti Pauleira as partners.
