Jewel Scheme is the new project from Scottish songwriter Martin Henry (De Rosa, Whin, solo), and multi instrumentalists Chris Connick and Allan Carroll (Knockout Ned, De Rosa). Their first album, Jewel Scheme, was recorded in two sessions in spring 2023. The first of these took place on the island of Cyprus and the second on the West Coast of Scotland. The experience of working in these countries - both rich in history yet shaped by conflict - had a major influence on the songs on Jewel Scheme. Many tracks mix disparate elements - location samples of Cypriot mountain towns, Talk Talk-esque guitars, Vangelis synths - while Henry’s Glasgow accented lyrics speak of human connection and state brutality. The album was mixed by Martin Henry and mastered by producer Andy Miller (Mogwai, Songs:Ohia, Life Without Buildings).
