The monumental release, consisting of ten albums, contains complete Joseph Haydn’s piano sonatas recorded by Korean pianist Won-Sook Hur. The artist, known for her concert and pedagogical activities in Europe and Asia, appreciated in the past, among others, for her recordings of Goldberg Variations, devoted five years to the implementation of the project, which resulted in the presentation of as many as 56 piano sonatas by the oldest representative of the First Viennese School. The pianist takes great care of each of them, bringing out the most beautiful, original and noteworthy features in the composer’s oeuvre. Haydn was a versatile artist, putting melodic, harmonic and textural invention above strict formal patterns. Although the sonatas by Mozart and Beethoven are performed much more often, the compositions by the oldest representative of the First Viennese School are in no way inferior to them – they abound in affection, sentiment and humour; this is a twelve-hour feast for lovers of the Classical era.

What is High-Resolution Audio?

High-resolution audio offers the highest-fidelity available, far surpassing the sound quality of traditional CDs. When you listen to music on a CD or tracks purchased via consumer services such as iTunes, you are hearing a low-resolution version of what was actually recorded and mastered in the studio. ProStudioMasters offers the original studio masters — exactly as the artist, producers and sound engineers mastered them — for download, directly to you.

What do I need for playback?

You may need additional software / hardware to take full advantage of the higher 24-bit high-res audio formats, but any music lover that has heard 16-bit vs 24-bit will tell you it's worth it!
