Grigory Sokolov releases his latest live album of works by Purcell and Mozart. The pianist dedicated his entire 2022/23 season to performances of the two composers. Here he brilliantly unites Purcell’s grounds (ground bass lines), tunes and dances with Mozart’s piano works from the Viennesse Classical period, revealing their shared streaks of charm and melancholy. The first half of the album presents a live recording of Sokolov’s recital at the Santander International Festival on 18 August 2023, where he played music by Henry Purcell. The second half of the program was recorded two days earlier in San Sebastián at the Quincena Music festival and consists of two works by Mozart.

What is High-Resolution Audio?

High-resolution audio offers the highest-fidelity available, far surpassing the sound quality of traditional CDs. When you listen to music on a CD or tracks purchased via consumer services such as iTunes, you are hearing a low-resolution version of what was actually recorded and mastered in the studio. ProStudioMasters offers the original studio masters — exactly as the artist, producers and sound engineers mastered them — for download, directly to you.

What do I need for playback?

You may need additional software / hardware to take full advantage of the higher 24-bit high-res audio formats, but any music lover that has heard 16-bit vs 24-bit will tell you it's worth it!
