This first volume in a series from the Purcell Quartet contains two of the four large-scale sonatas in François Couperin's collection Les Nations, recorded in March 2001. Couperin greatly admired Italian Baroque composers such as Corelli and his sonatas demonstrate his lifelong commitment to uniting, in his music, the best of both French and Italian musical conventions.
