Keepin’ A Style Alive is the debut album from German ensemble the Jan Prax Quartet, four musicians who passionately and playfully combine traditional and progressive elements of jazz in order to create a unique expression. Inspired by the timeless spirit of American jazz legends from John Coltrane to modern mainstream heroes like Joshua Redman, the original tunes on this recording present a powerful commitment to the music of former times. The result is pulsating, grooving, energetic music with a modern and individual style that shows what living jazz tradition means to a young musician like Prax.
