Throughout history, Beethoven's Violin Concerto has revealed many layers which become clearer when musicians dive in and give back a profound understanding of the piece. That's exactly what violinist Liza Ferschtman does on this recording: she displays her vision of this masterwork in a sublime, radiating and touching performance. The chemistry between her as a soloist, conductor Jan Willem de Vriend and the Netherlands Symphony Orchestra is very clear and beautiful indeed. The exquisite melodies of the Romances are a fitting addition to the programme.
