“I cannot give this a stronger recommendation ... over an hour worth of pure bliss.”
- Fanfare
Daniel Myssyk and his superb orchestra the Ensemble Instrumental Appassionata deliver the clean, clear and crisp tone characteristic of their previous recordings on this performance of Idyla for string orchestra. Possibly Janáček’s most accomplished early work, the piece displays several features typical of the composer’s later style, including the tendency to build themes by accumulating very brief melodic cells and the use of Czech and Moravian folk elements.
