After a four-year break that followed Zombi's beloved last album Escape Velocity, the American instrumental duo reclaims its rightful role as space rock overlords with Shape Shift. The album, self-produced by the band, is darker, heavier and more dynamic than previous works and more representative of the duo's live shows; a fitting return to the roots.
"It’s a rock record: think of it as a follow-up to (2006's) Surface To Air. There are no techno jams or symphonic prog fantasies. No solo track interludes. It’s dark and heavy. Live drums on every song and lots of bass guitar. We have officially moved from ‘studio project’ mode back into ‘live band’ mode."
