"... (documents) Duke's emergence as a stylistically multifaceted performer, composer and producer of significance ... electric music this was, but it still swung hard and possessed a pop-like but still soulfully jazz complexion ..." - All About Jazz In 1971, keyboard wizard George Duke recorded two albums over a short time span, initially issued together in 1973 as a double set and later split into two distinct releases: Solus and this volume, The Inner Source. Duke experiments with different instrumentation on these songs, including Latin percussion and incisive horn and reed instruments. The title track is a masterstroke of quintet dramaturgy, featuring Duke on his first instrument, the trombone. As a curiosity, two basses compete with each other on Twenty-Five while the last piece, Always Constant, is a more open piece that spontaneously unfolded in the studio. "... looking back, I can really hear a lot of growth in my piano playing ... I almost sound like a different piano player more confident with definitely stronger musical ideas. Boy, did I learn a lot. It seems I was beginning to find my own musical voice!" - George Duke

What is High-Resolution Audio?

High-resolution audio offers the highest-fidelity available, far surpassing the sound quality of traditional CDs. When you listen to music on a CD or tracks purchased via consumer services such as iTunes, you are hearing a low-resolution version of what was actually recorded and mastered in the studio. ProStudioMasters offers the original studio masters — exactly as the artist, producers and sound engineers mastered them — for download, directly to you.

What do I need for playback?

You may need additional software / hardware to take full advantage of the higher 24-bit high-res audio formats, but any music lover that has heard 16-bit vs 24-bit will tell you it's worth it!
