Digital Booklet
On this major label debut, Florida-based duo Black Violin blends hip-hop and classical music to forge a unique sound that defies description. The two members of the group, Wil Baptiste and Kev Marcus, recorded these songs in Brooklyn, supported by musicians who play with The Roots, Ed Sheeran and Jack White. An equal mix of vocal songs and instrumentals, the album was executive produced by Eli Wolf, known for his work with Norah Jones, The Roots and Elvis Costello. "Obviously classical and hip-hop are two extremes but we do so much in between, so when we sat down we talked about how we wanted to make really good, pure music and that’s where we started. There’s a lot of hip-hop and classical but also a lot of R&B, jazz and if you close your eyes hard enough you might hear some bluegrass. The message of Stereotypes comes into fruition halfway through. Two black guys playing violin and making music like this; I’ve never heard anything quite like it. We started really rooting our music with the message of breaking stereotypes." - Kev Marcus

What is High-Resolution Audio?

High-resolution audio offers the highest-fidelity available, far surpassing the sound quality of traditional CDs. When you listen to music on a CD or tracks purchased via consumer services such as iTunes, you are hearing a low-resolution version of what was actually recorded and mastered in the studio. ProStudioMasters offers the original studio masters — exactly as the artist, producers and sound engineers mastered them — for download, directly to you.

What do I need for playback?

You may need additional software / hardware to take full advantage of the higher 24-bit high-res audio formats, but any music lover that has heard 16-bit vs 24-bit will tell you it's worth it!
