Harpsichordist Fabio Bonizzoni shines the spotlight on the chamber vocal output of Georg Friedrich Handel on this second volume of duets and trios, featuring the vocal talents of sopranos Roberta Invernizzi and Silvia Frigato, baritone Thomas Bauer and tenor Krystian Adam. The programme of sensual pieces focuses on a brief, yet astonishingly productive period Handel spent in Italy and is imbued with Handel’s discovery of Italian, particularly the Arcadian culture which included the music of Corelli and Scarlatti. Much of the music for the duets and trios on this recording is scored for soprano and bass singers and Invernizzi is afforded the opportunity to demonstrate her magical reaction to Handel’s responsiveness to the Italian language.
