"Four Stars. The beauty of Isokoski's singing, with its even, lustrous tone and quiet stylishness, almost goes without saying and those qualities are at their most beguiling in the Three Hymns. The technical quality is just as high in the opera extracts ..." - The Guardian Multiple award winning Strauss singer Soile Isokoski presents Three Hymns, coupled with opera arias from Ariadne auf Naxos, Der Rosenkavalier and Capriccio, backed by the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra under Okko Kamu. All these pieces are part of Isokoski's standard repertoire which she has performed regularly at opera houses around the world. Three Hymns is a major atmospheric work with Strauss's orchestration in full bloom, yet it is surprisingly rarely recorded, no doubt partly because of the great vocal demand it poses to the soloist.
192 kHz / 24-bit, 96 kHz / 24-bit PCM and 5.6448 MHz, 2.8224 MHz DSD – 2xHD - Ondine Studio Masters

This album was mastered using our 2xHD proprietary system. In order to achieve the most accurate reproduction of the original recording we tailor our process specifically for each project, using a selection from our pool of state-of-the-art audiophile components and connectors. The process begins with a transfer to analogue from the original DXD master, using cutting edge D/A converters. The analogue signal is then sent through a high end tube preamplifier before being recorded directly in DXD using the MSB Platinum Studio ADC plus. All connections used in the process are made of OCC silver cable. DSD and 192 kHz / 24-bit versions are separately generated, directly from the analogue signal. 2xHD Mastering: René Laflamme 2xHD Executive producer: André Perry

What is High-Resolution Audio?

High-resolution audio offers the highest-fidelity available, far surpassing the sound quality of traditional CDs. When you listen to music on a CD or tracks purchased via consumer services such as iTunes, you are hearing a low-resolution version of what was actually recorded and mastered in the studio. ProStudioMasters offers the original studio masters — exactly as the artist, producers and sound engineers mastered them — for download, directly to you.

What do I need for playback?

You may need additional software / hardware to take full advantage of the higher 24-bit high-res audio formats, but any music lover that has heard 16-bit vs 24-bit will tell you it's worth it!
