While Danish Romantic violin concertos aren't that common, the important examples of the genre on this recording firmly establish that great violin concertos had a place in Danish music. Featuring three rarely performed works, this release highlights one of Denmark's finest soloists, Christina Åstrand, here in good Finnish company with the Tampere Philharmonic and its chief conductor John Storgårds.
