"Tilson Thomas, at his best in this kind of offbeat repertoire ... a man on a mission ... should be loudly applauded for his adventurous programming."
- MusicWeb International
"Editor's Choice ... Tilson Thomas peels the orchestra open like a considerable box of delights ... an exceptionally fine Amériques, filled with depth and sonic glare ..."
- Gramophone
"Five Stars ... one of the boldest pieces of programming to have come my way in a long time ... Tilson Thomas turns in a superb performance, remarkable as much for the delicacy of the quiet moments as for the raucous climaxes."
- BBC Music Magazine
"... a terrific disc of music that few if anyone can perform more powerfully than Michael Tilson Thomas ... two remarkable works that still sound as freshly radical as when they were written ... (Synchrony) sounds like nothing else you’ve ever heard ... the SFSO play it magnificently, with ideal clarity of texture and amazing virtuosity, especially from the brass section. Indeed, this is one of the two or three best versions of the work available ... the live sonics are some of the finest to come from this source ... Thomas and his ensemble are doing what they ought to: preserving spectacular performances of non-traditional repertoire. Stunning."
