First prize at the prestigious ARD competition in Munich, the Arod Quartet gave itself as guardian figure a horse imagined by Tolkien in The Lord of the Rings, symbol of strength and ardor. After two remarkable recordings, the Quartet returns to us today with Schubert quartets recorded in the sublime acoustics of La Chaux de Fonds: the famous Quartet N ° 14 "La jeune fille et la mort", the Quartet N ° 4, as well as that the 1st movement of Quartet No. 12 unfinished. All of Schubert's lyricism, gloom, and despair are expressed here with rare interpretive quality and authority.
