These recent piano trios by four leading Irish composers are modern enough in style to provide ever-interesting sounds, but never become too challenging. In fact they represent the best contemporary approach to often tuneful and lyrical compositions and in places show influences of jazz and exotic rhythms. Superbly played by the Fidelio Trio, all four works receive their world premieres on this album.
