Composer and pianist Thierry Pécou is backed by his Ensemble Variances on this programme of his own works, showcasing his homage to Henri Dutilleux on the title work Les Liaisons Magnétiques. Other pieces evoke pre-Columbian Mexico (Soleil-Feu) or Indonesian gamelans (the Sextuor) and offer a festive, sensual detour to the islands of the Caribbean (Salsa d’Elissa and Dominica Reggae.) Jonathan Stockhammer conducts the Ensemble Variances, joined on the title composition by German string players the Ensemble Resonanz.
