A year after its stunning first volume of Schubert’s complete choral works for male choir was met with widespread acclaim, the Camerata Musica Limburg follows up with this second installment, equally praiseworthy. Under Jan Schumacher, the singer's voices are particularly mellow and smooth on pieces such as Song of the spirits over the waters and Good night, however each song is more beautiful than the last. The ensemble is joined by an impressive cast of soloists including tenor Christoph Prégardien, pianist Andreas Frese and violist Veronika Hagen.
