Digital Booklet
"... spare, intriguing and even contrarian music that’s a taste well worth acquiring ... has a different set of priorities than those that other piano trios pursue ... material patiently unfolds and trance-inducing repetition sometimes ensues. While melodies are spare and minimal and harmonies are austere, pulse and metre really matter as they undergo transformations and layerings. Above all, timbres and sound qualities are of prime importance ... there’s lingering mystery, as well as suspense regarding where the trio goes with each piece ... Le Vent‘s considerable depths are worth plumbing." - Ottawa Citizen "... a truly collaborative effort that eschews individual solos in favour of a haunting, collective sound. The results are atmospheric and exquisitely formalistic. This is not to suggest that, because of its ambient nature, the album is without substance. On the contrary, its structure becomes its essence ... a contemplative aura permeates the recording ... the trio also deftly utilizes silent pauses in their interplay to an ethereal effect ... with this singular work Vallon and his sidemen fuse their distinctive artistic voices to weave a series of stimulating and delightful tone poems ... an intensely rewarding listening experience." - All About Jazz Like the wind celebrated in the title track, the Colin Vallon Trio has a subtle, insinuating power. From a still and silent place its music may breathe gently, or steadily build pressure until attaining an eruptive forcefulness. This sense of poetic compression and quiet relentlessness is very evident on this album from the Swiss trio who welcome new drummer Julian Sartorius to the fold. The musicians enter a brave new space where touch and inflection are more important than soloistic gesture. Melodies, unfolding slowly, are shared between Patrice Moret’s bass and Vallon’s piano.

What is High-Resolution Audio?

High-resolution audio offers the highest-fidelity available, far surpassing the sound quality of traditional CDs. When you listen to music on a CD or tracks purchased via consumer services such as iTunes, you are hearing a low-resolution version of what was actually recorded and mastered in the studio. ProStudioMasters offers the original studio masters — exactly as the artist, producers and sound engineers mastered them — for download, directly to you.

What do I need for playback?

You may need additional software / hardware to take full advantage of the higher 24-bit high-res audio formats, but any music lover that has heard 16-bit vs 24-bit will tell you it's worth it!
