American soprano Leontyne Price, the winner of 19 Grammy Awards and many other awards and honours, recorded three albums of spirituals between 1961 and 1970. Most of the songs on this remastered collection are taken from the earliest of the three and feature African-American conductor Leonard De Paur leading the orchestra. The final eight tracks are Christmas songs Price recorded with acclaimed conductor Herbert von Karajan and the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. Originally issued under the title A Christmas Offering in 1961, the album was later retitled and rereleased as Christmas with Leontyne Price.
