The River continues ETHEL’s deeply successful long running collaboration with Native American musician, instrument builder and three-time Grammy winner Robert Mirabal. The live performance immerses the audience in a flow of music, narrative and ritual, created by ETHEL and Mirabal exclusively for this programme, evoking timeless Native American traditions through contemporary artistry. As delivered by these master performers, the effect is breathtaking, even ecstatic. Through rushing rapids and still, sacred spaces, ETHEL and Mirabal evoke the magic and majesty of “the river" which connects us all. Influences were drawn from Hawaii, Arizona, Mexico, Morocco, India, Tibet, Japan and Soviet Georgia, resulting in a dazzling sound, full of the spirit of generosity, love and gratitude.
