Digital Booklet
"... (Christodoulou) plays with a sweet tone ... there’s a palpable sense of joy in the music making (in the finale of the Glazunov) ... the most subtle playing is reserved for (the Sibelius) ... pieces far more rich and substantial than their short running times would suggest. They certainly bring out good things in Christodoulou ..." - Gramophone "This very welcome collection consists of musical gems ... all of which are deserving of a higher priority than is often shown to them ... John Carewe and the Bournemouth Symphony are sympathetic and attentive accompanists ... conducting is exemplary ... a happy tripling of pieces that have a ‘Cinderella’ status and yet all three works really do deserve to go the ball, here at chez Christodoulou." - ClassicalSource.com Greek violinist Efi Christodoulou takes the spotlight on this release pairing Glazunov's very popular Violin Concerto with Dvořák's Violin Concerto, one of the most abundantly melodic and loveable works in the composer's entire output. The two concertos are often recorded together, deriving their inspiration from Russian Bohemia's musical heritage while remaining close to Brahmsian Viennese traditions. As a bonus, the programme includes Sibelius's neglected gems the Six Humoresques, a set of delightful miniatures revealing a more mature composer of striking imaginative range. Christodoulou is marvellously accompanied by the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra under John Carewe.

What is High-Resolution Audio?

High-resolution audio offers the highest-fidelity available, far surpassing the sound quality of traditional CDs. When you listen to music on a CD or tracks purchased via consumer services such as iTunes, you are hearing a low-resolution version of what was actually recorded and mastered in the studio. ProStudioMasters offers the original studio masters — exactly as the artist, producers and sound engineers mastered them — for download, directly to you.

What do I need for playback?

You may need additional software / hardware to take full advantage of the higher 24-bit high-res audio formats, but any music lover that has heard 16-bit vs 24-bit will tell you it's worth it!
