Throughout her extraordinary career, recorder vituoso Michala Petri has embraced the entirety of the instrument's repertoire, from the Baroque to the 21st century. Yet, her great mission has been to bring the simple recorder into the modern concert hall as a solo instrument in front of the symphony orchestra. This album, containing two world premieres, is another installment in Petri's ongoing Concerto Project, which includes the Grammy-nominated Movements. Here, accompanied by the Aalborg Symphony Orchestra, she presents original works especially composed for her by an international roster of great contemporary composers from her native Denmark. The three featured selections provide a mere glimpse of the rich and colourful diversity of Danish and Faroese contemporary music.
