"Wardruna is sowing new seeds and strengthening old roots ... despite the broad subject matter, the music feels personal ... the record feels like a sunrise. Like an awakening to me."
- Noisey

Runaljod – Ragnarok is the third installment in a trilogy begun in 2009 by Norwegian folk group Wardruna, led by former Gorgoroth drummer Einar Selvik. The three albums contain a musical rendition of the 24 runes in what is often referred to as the elder futhark. Some of the recordings were made outdoors in places or under circumstances of significance to each rune and performed on historical instruments such as primitive deer hide frame drums, Kraviklyra, tagelharpe, mouth harp, goat horn, lur and more. Nontraditional instruments and other sources of sound like trees, rocks, water and torches are also incorporated. These elements are carefully woven into a rich landscape and complemented with whispering voices, melodic song and mighty choirs. Although Wardruna’s music shares characteristics with folk, world and ambient, none of these genres can really describe its unique style.

What is High-Resolution Audio?

High-resolution audio offers the highest-fidelity available, far surpassing the sound quality of traditional CDs. When you listen to music on a CD or tracks purchased via consumer services such as iTunes, you are hearing a low-resolution version of what was actually recorded and mastered in the studio. ProStudioMasters offers the original studio masters — exactly as the artist, producers and sound engineers mastered them — for download, directly to you.

What do I need for playback?

You may need additional software / hardware to take full advantage of the higher 24-bit high-res audio formats, but any music lover that has heard 16-bit vs 24-bit will tell you it's worth it!
